Often people think that they know me.
Most of them are aware of my existence,
But not that many really know who I am.
They try to figure me out.
Some even search for me in places far away,
But very often they don’t find me.
They confuse me with priorities
But I’m the one who prioritizes.
I give priorities real meaning.
They think I’m a decision,
Although I’m the basis of their decisions.
Often they don’t even know that I guide their decisions.
For most of them
I’m not even a conscious thought or idea.
Subconsciously I influence them.
Many say that I can be
Whatever one wants me to be.
That is true. Partially true.
I can be different for everybody.
But that doesn’t mean,
That there is not a true version of me.
Truth is actually really important to me.
But not that many care about the truth.
They care about my effect on them.
They think that their interpretation of truth
Is the same as the truth.
But it isn’t. I’m not the truth. Nor are they.
Understanding the truth requires
To differentiate between true facts
And someone’s opinion about those facts.
I can help with that.
I can help people to see the truth
And to be guided by the truth.
Sadly, they try to define me,
Although I am the one
Who defines them.
They think they can change me,
Although I am the one
Who changes them.
I am the purpose of life.
And I can be different for different people.
It depends on what you want me to be.
I can be family, fame or fortune.
I can be sports, satisfaction or self-realization.
I can be a profession, a passion or a person.
A purpose in life makes a difference.
Most purposes only make a difference for this life.
Only one purpose has an eternal impact.
Only believing in Jesus and loving God
Makes an eternal difference.
That’s the most important purpose.
