The Future of the Tiger

Tiger, Tiger, burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye,
Could frame thy terrible outcry?

In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what terms did God aspire?
Did His hand dare seize the fire?

When the stars threw down their light
Shined from heaven clearly bright:
Yes, He smiled His work to see!
He who made the lamb made thee!

Was it not the mortal man
Daring to commit a scam?
They destroyed your innocence
Being ruthless with their sins.

On His shoulder, by His heart
Did He save creation’s art.
When His heart slowed down its beat
He forgave them their deceit.

Tiger, Tiger burning bright,
Is your future in the light:
With the lamb you’ll dwell above
Not destroy nor hurt but love.
