Sorrows after sorrows
Seem to be the bitter fate of humanity.
Nobody can run away from worries.
During the day they keep playing in our mind
And during the night they steal our sleep.
They occupy our thoughts and dreams.
Although we don’t want them
They keep coming back.
They’re quite intrusive and they never stop.
They go on and on and on.
Sorrows tell a story that never ends.
Their narrative feels like never and forever.
They tell every unlikely ending of a story
That never happened
Nor will ever happen in our lives and days.
Sorrows try to be the author of our life story.
But they’re just the disturber of our peace.
They won’t do anything good for us.
Nor can they give us anything of value.
They steal our peace and health
And they pay us back in burdens.
Most of the time, we cling to those burdens.
We could also choose to get rid of them
But we prefer their presence and counsel.
Somehow they give us a feeling of control
Although they control and confuse us.
However, neither they nor we are in charge.
There was a Man of sorrows
Who became the Prince of Peace
By carrying our sorrows upon His shoulders.
He controls our circumstances.
He knows our grief and our pain.
No pain is too painful for Him.
No anxiety is too anxious for Him.
No problem is too complex for Him.
He is the ultimate Peace-Maker.
He can deal with our sorrows.
He is willing to take our burdens away
And replace them with peace and rest.
Jesus went through the greatest sorrows
So that He can provide the greatest relief.
He knows us, our sorrows and the solution.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
